Disney’s MagicBand or Card

Disney MagicBands and cards are all-in-one devices that serve as your Disney theme park ticket, Disney resort room key and more. With a MagicBand on your wrist or a card in your pocket, you’ll travel lighter throughout your vacation at Disney World. Your Disney MagicBand or card will even allow you to check in at FastPass Plus (FastPass+) locations.

Use your card or MagicBand to:

  • Unlock the door of your Disney Resort hotel room.
  • Enter theme and water parks (with valid theme park admission).
  • Check in at FastPass+ entrances.
  • Connect Disney PhotoPass images to your account.
  • Charge food and merchandise to your Disney Resort room account.

How do I use my MagicBand

Most of the time, all you need to do is touch your MagicBand against a sensor called a touch point.

MagicBands can also be read by long-range readers to deliver amazing personalized experiences, as well as provide information that helps Disney improve the overall experience in Disney theme parks. You don’t have to do anything beyond being nearby to interact with long-range readers. They just work—like magic!

Your MagicBand enables you to travel lighter throughout your Disney vacation. Use it to enter the parks, unlock your Disney Resort hotel room and buy food and merchandise. Plus, your MagicBand gives you FastPass+ access to all the experiences you’ve selected online or via the FastPass+ terminals.

In addition to touching your MagicBand or card to a touch point, you will be required to scan a finger to enter the parks or enter a PIN code to uniquely identify yourself when making purchases. This process helps to ensure that you, and only you, have access to the entitlements linked to your MagicBand or card.

MagicBands are always operational. They don’t require batteries or have an on/off switch. If you lose a MagicBand, you can deactivate it on My Disney Experience, and it will no longer be linked to your tickets and other entitlements.

MagicBands use Radio Frequency (RF) technology and can be read by short and long-range readers located at the Walt Disney World Resort. If you prefer to use a card—which cannot be detected by long-range readers—you can request a card at your Disney Resort hotel.

What size do the Magic Bands come in?

The Disney Magic Bands are one size fits all and they can be re-sized for kids by pulling apart the band to create a smaller size. The Magic Bands are also very secure. They snap on and off with two snaps.

Can I customise the Magic Bands?

Yes, when you add your resort reservation to My Disney Experience it automatically orders the magic bands for your party. In the My Disney Experince you can customise your MagicBands with a name and a colour. The name will default to the first name but you can change it to whatever you want even a nickname or alter ego! The current colour options are green, pink, blue, red, orange, yellow, and grey. Purple was also introduced in the early part of 2016.

Additionally the shops in the Disney resorts and theme parks have a large array of items that can be purchased to customise the magic band look. They are called sliders and bandits.

What is MagicBand on Demand?

You can create and personalise retail MagicBands using the Demand Station inside the Tomorrowland Power & Light. Co in the Magic Kingdom. You can create either a retail MagicBand or a D-Tech Phone Case, There are eight colours to choose from including purple, with 40 graphics that can be applied to make your own custom design and can be personalised further by adding a name. The completed design is printed at the location and are immediately useable, as UV ink is used. The perfect gift to yourself, or for family and friends.

Are MagicBands waterproof?

Yes. MagicBands are waterproof so you don’t have to worry about protecting them from water exposure when you visit the Disney water parks, enjoy water attractions at the Disney theme parks, swim at the pool at your Disney Resort hotel or get caught outside in the rain.

How do I use my MagicBand or card when I have a FastPass+ arrival time at an attraction or entertainment experience?

When you arrive during your scheduled FastPass+ arrival time, all you need to do is proceed to the FASTPASS queue entrance and touch your MagicBand or card to a sensor called a touch point.

Please remember that each member of your party will have to individually touch their MagicBand or card to the touch point, so everyone should be sure to have their MagicBand or card available.

What happens if I don’t customize my MagicBand?

If you don’t customize a MagicBand with your name and favorite color within 5 days of your visit, you will be provided with a non-customized MagicBand or card when you arrive at Walt Disney World Resort.

Customizing your MagicBand is fun and easy, plus it’s a great way to differentiate your MagicBand from other members of your travel party.

When is the deadline for customizing my MagicBand?

You have until 10 days before your arrival at Walt Disney World Resort to customize your MagicBand with your name and favorite color if you wish to have the MagicBand shipped to your home. If you customize your MagicBand between 9 and 5 days before your arrival at Walt Disney World Resort, you will receive it when you arrive at your Disney Resort hotel. If you do not customize your MagicBand, you will receive a non-customized MagicBand or card when you arrive at Walt Disney World Resort.

MagicBand shipping is only available to United States addresses.

How do I tell our MagicBands apart from each other?

Customized MagicBands can have different colors. If 2 or more have an identical color, look for a printed name or number on each MagicBand.

In the MagicBand section of My Profile you can see the color and number of each person’s MagicBand. Only MagicBands that you manage will appear, so you may have to ask other people you are traveling with to sign in and view their MagicBands.

If you still can’t tell your MagicBands apart, please visit any Guest Relations location, talk to a Disney Resort hotel Lobby Concierge or contact Disney

I have multiple MagicBands or cards. How do I manage them?

You manage your Disney MagicBands or cards in the MagicBand section of My Profile. For example, you are able to:

  • Activate or deactivate MagicBands or cards
  • Report a MagicBand or card as lost
  • Customize MagicBands before they are shipped

Multiple MagicBands or cards can be assigned to a single person, so activating a new MagicBand or card does not mean that you must deactivate an existing MagicBand or card. All active MagicBands or cards assigned to a person have access to the benefits and entitlements for that person. Adding a new MagicBand or card does not add new entitlements, such as additional theme park admissions.

Can other people use my MagicBand or card?

No. Your MagicBand or card is unique to you and only you are authorized to access the benefits associated with it—including linked tickets, FastPass+ experiences, touch-to-pay purchases and other entitlements. Once a MagicBand or card is linked to your Disney account, it cannot be transferred to another person.

In addition to touching your MagicBand or card to a touch point, you will be required to scan a finger to enter the parks or enter a PIN code to uniquely identify yourself when making purchases. This process helps to ensure that you, and only you, have access to the entitlements linked to your MagicBand or card.

Can I reuse my MagicBand or card the next time I visit Walt Disney World Resort?

Yes. If you have a MagicBand or card that you like, and it is in working condition, you can continue to use it when you return to Walt Disney World Resort. However, the battery which allows long range RFID contact (videos / on ride photos etc.) only lasts 18 – 24 months. The other functions of the MagicBand will not be affected. You can choose to opt out of the issue of new bands on your My Disney Experience account but Disney recommend that any old bands you use are less than 6 months old.

If you have multiple MagicBands or cards, you can manage which ones are active in the MagicBand section of My Profile.

What should I do if I lose my MagicBand or card?

If you can access disneyworld.com, please visit the MagicBand section of My Profile, select the “Deactivate” button next to the MagicBand or card and when asked for the reason why, indicate that the MagicBand or card is lost. You can also deactivate a MagicBand using the My Disney Experience mobile app.

If you lose your MagicBand or card at Walt Disney World Resort, please visit Guest Relations or a Disney Resort hotel Lobby Concierge and we will deactivate it for you and provide you with a replacement MagicBand or card.

If you have another available MagicBand or card, you can activate it on the MagicBand section of My Profile in My Disney Experience. If your visit is more than 10 days away, contact us to have a replacement MagicBand shipped to you.

Replacement MagicBands may be subject to a fee.
