2021 Theme Park Attendance Road To Recovery

The latest attendance figures from the TEA and AECOM’s report show a marked recovery in 2021 for the major theme parks and water parks as they continued to adapt to the evolving climate from the impacts of the COVID pandemic.

Disney, Universal and SeaWorld theme park attendances took a major hammering in 2020 due to the pandemic. With park closures, reduced operating capacities and when the parks eventually re-opened, travel restrictions and public confidence all contributed to a massive decrease in attendace during 2020.

The Magic Kingdom theme park at Walt Disney World saw a 67% drop in attendance with 2019 figures showing nearly 21 million whereas 2020 figures had dropped to 6.9 million. However the 2021 attendance figures show a bounce back of 82% for the Magic Kingdom with attendance at 12.69 million.

The table below shows 2019, 2020 and 2021 attendance figures in millions
